Your gift helps us reach our mission

Please help us protect our scientific collections and support cutting edge research by donating today!

Above our galleries, we actively maintain and protect scientific collections including the 10th largest mollusk collection in the United States and an impressive bird collection that boasts 36,000 egg clutches- second largest in North America. In addition, we actively conduct scientific research both in our collection and in the field. If that wasn't enough, our scientists work with local universities to help professors teach their college students how to use a scientific resource collection like ours.

Eastern Oysters (𝘊𝘳𝘒𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘴𝘡𝘳𝘦𝘒 𝘷π˜ͺ𝘳𝘨π˜ͺ𝘯π˜ͺ𝘀𝘒) live in clusters, tucked into nooks and crannies and tightly wedged together. As they grow, their shells become gnarly and bent from pressing up against one another.
